DESCRIPTION:Click for Latest Location Information: http://edw2014.dataversity.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=79&proposalid=5981\nEffective Information Governance involves multiple aspects about the business and the underlying data and application assets. Terms such as data owner, data steward, data consumer, data custodian, system of record, provisioning points, controls, known copies, production reports, end-user tools, synonyms, homonyms, etc. are all part of the Information Governance vocabulary. \nThese components all define the basic puzzle of an organization’s source and use of data and derived information across the Enterprise Architecture. Understanding how these puzzle pieces fit together is critical to implementing a sustainable Information Governance initiative. \nFortunately a simplified metadata model can be used to understand and leverage the Information Governance puzzle. This session looks at Information Governance through a metadata lens and clearly shows the relationships that link the puzzle back to the business and underlying data and technical assets. \nBased on case studies from several large organizations, this tutorial will provide the following:\n How to define Information Governance as a series of metadata components\n The fundamental metadata relationship between these governance puzzle pieces\n Understanding the relationship between Information Governance and Enterprise Architecture from a metadata perspective\n A metadata model for defining and managing Information Governance\n Policies, procedures, solutions, and roles for effectively managing Information Governance metadata
